The lines symbolize gold, silver and copper mining and thus the prosperity and wealth of the mining era in Mölltal. The life of the miners was very arduous. The Mölltal miners, who came from all over Europe, settled in the Mölltal. Today there are still many miners from the Mölltal who are in demand throughout Europe as tunnel construction workers.

The combination of the historical narrative and modern graffiti art creates a unique connection and shows great interest! The realization of this work of art also sheds new light on the cultural significance of the Mallnitz Lindwurm and the Carinthian landmark - the Klagenfurt Lindwurm.

Coat of arms Obervellach & Freising / Building: Haus Rieser, Obervellach
Klemens Baum has combined the two coats of arms (Obervellach and Freising) into one work of art. This is intended to symbolize the friendship and long shared history between Freising and Obervellach, as well as their cooperation even during the mining era. His friend Herbert Meier supported him in his work on the wall.

The church painter and restorer Bernd Flassak from Freising and his employees Alina & Marco show a historical fresco with the Bishop of Freising, which depicts the restitution of the lands of Obervellach by the Bishop of Freising to the sovereign of the region. The town twinning between Obervellach and Freising celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2023. The intertwined flags (red and white for Freising and blue and white for Obervellach) symbolize this close friendship.

More InformationAt the Penk district heating plant, Salzburg artist Edith Sulzenbacher explores the industrial past of the Möll Valley. The focus is on the Teuchl Valley—a symbol of centuries-old mining, where ore and precious metals were extracted from the rock. Amidst fragments of old walls, the view opens up to the striking mountains and forests that once supplied wood and charcoal for the smelting furnaces. At the same time, the painting bridges the gap to the present: the stylized flames of a wood chip boiler allude to modern heat supply and the region’s transformation—from mining to sustainable energy.
Edith Sulzenbacher is also bringing the past back to life on the facade of the “Alte Post” in Penk. Once a resting place for stagecoaches and miners, the building now tells the story of journeys, encounters, and work from centuries past through bold imagery. Despite the rough plaster, which makes fine details difficult to discern, the work makes a powerful impression from a distance—as a powerful symbol of remembrance.

More InformationAt the Flattach outdoor pool, a colorful mural that blends imagination, community, and nature was created under the guidance of artist Fredda Wouters. For five days, the entrance area was transformed into a studio where seven women, ranging in age from eleven to seventy-eight, painted, laughed, and created together.
The resulting artwork offers a glimpse into the underwater world of the Möll: fish swim by, aquatic plants sway in gentle currents, and a small bee serves as a reminder of nature’s fragility. In this way, the mural becomes a symbol of vitality, diversity, and the coexistence of humans and the environment.
Under the gentle guidance of Fredda Wouters, the workshop itself became a place of connection—a collaborative work of art that brings together creativity and generations.

The idea originated with Aktrice and was further developed through creative collaboration with internationally renowned 3D artists.
The large-scale mural transforms the building’s facade into a gateway to a vibrant world of art. Through vivid colors and a sense of spatial depth, it pays tribute to the diversity of Mölltal’s art scene—from painting, literature, and film to music, theater, architecture, and installation art.
The artwork is particularly striking at twilight: through the use of luminous paints and strategic lighting, the painting seems to come to life. In this way, the wall itself becomes a symbol of creativity, transformation, and the boundless power of art.

More InformationOn the side building of the Reichhold Inn in Stall, an impressive mural that blends history and illusion was created under the direction of 3D artist Marion Ruthardt. The work transports viewers into the world of the mountain farmers who once cultivated the steep slopes, brought hay down to the valley, and lived in harmony with nature.
With a masterful sense of perspective and light, Ruthardt created a scene that invites the viewer to step inside: meadows, water, and a goat shed appear so real that the line between painting and reality seems to blur. Anyone standing before it becomes part of the scene—a moment in which the painting comes to life.
The artwork serves both as a tribute and a memorial—to the work and lives of the people who shaped the Mölltal valley, and to the natural world that surrounds them. In this way, a place has been created in Stall where art tells stories and makes wonder possible once again.

Das Kunstwerk zeigt, wie Kunst auch abseits klassischer Ausstellungsräume erlebbar werden kann: mitten im Alltag, überraschend und für Groß und Klein zugänglich. Beim Durchqueren der Unterführung entsteht beinahe der Eindruck, in einen alten Bergwerksstollen einzufahren. Motive wie Werkzeuge, ein Grubenhunt und weitere Details greifen die historische Arbeit unter Tage auf und erinnern an den früheren Eisenabbau in der Teuchel. Ein Stück Geschichte, das heute im Alltag wieder sichtbar und erlebbar wird. Das Kunstprojekt zeigt, wie regionale Vergangenheit auf moderne und kreative Weise vermittelt werden kann. Aus einem funktionalen Bauwerk wird ein kleiner Erlebnisraum, der zum genaueren Hinsehen einlädt und Geschichten aus der Region erzählt. So begegnen sich in Penk Kunst, Alltagsraum und regionales Kulturerbe – und machen die Geschichte des Mölltals für Einheimische wie Gäste ein Stück weit greifbarer.

Der argentinische Künstler Eduardo Relero hat hier eine großflächige Szenerie geschaffen, die den Blick auf die Arbeit mit Metall und die Menschen dahinter richtet. Im Mittelpunkt stehen kraftvolle Figuren bei der Metallarbeit. Sie erzählen von handwerklichem Können, körperlicher Arbeit und Schaffenskraft – und damit von Werten, die seit Generationen eng mit dem Leben und Arbeiten in der Region verbunden sind. Mensch und Material treten dabei in einen spannenden Dialog. Die Gestaltung macht aus einer gewöhnlichen Firmenfassade einen besonderen Blickfang. Kunst findet hier nicht in einem klassischen Ausstellungsraum statt, sondern dort, wo täglich gearbeitet, repariert und angepackt wird. Genau dadurch wird sie zu einem selbstverständlichen Teil des Ortsbildes und für alle zugänglich. So verbindet die Kunstwand bei KFZ Steiner Kunst, Handwerk und regionale Arbeitswelt und zeigt einmal mehr, wie Kunst im öffentlichen Raum Geschichten erzählen und alltägliche Orte aus einer neuen Perspektive sichtbar machen kann.
