Skiing in the Hohe Tauern National Park: this is a "winter" sporting experience as it should be. We don't do much artistry, nature sets the tone and makes the rules. In the ski areas from Heiligenblut to Emberger Alm, sport and alpine experience dominate. We don't have the most kilometers of slopes or après-ski temples, but you can expect guaranteed snow, long seasons and wonderful, open skiing space.

With the 3,798 m high Grossglockner always in view, the Grossglockner/Heiligenblut ski area offers 55 km of pistes, 5 ski routes and 1500 hectares of freeride arena . 11 modern lifts take you safely and quickly up the mountains, from where you can tackle the wide slopes in the face of Austria's highest mountain.

Emberger Alm family ski area

The Emberger Alm is located high above the Drau Valley and offers great skiing fun for the whole family. The south-facing and sunny slopes spread gently and make the skiing area between 1,600 and 2,200 m above sea level an insider tip for nature lovers. Instead of many hundreds of kilometers of slopes, you can look forward to cozy huts and inns.

Draw your line - freeriding in the Hohe Tauern

Have you ever made your deep snow turns in the realm of the three thousand meter peaks? If not, we are the right destination for you: we have the altitude, the slopes and the snow, you have the skills (or the ability). Heiligenblut, Ankogel or Mölltal Glacier: in the Hohe Tauern, you are at eye level with Austria's highest mountains. The Mölltal Glacier is a glacier ski area and offers its ski routes and lines when summer is already arriving elsewhere.

And for those who are not quite so sure about finding their own line, local experts ensure safety, as this is the top priority when freeriding. In Heiligenblut, for example, the freeride checkpoint at the middle station always provides an overview of the current conditions (incl. avalanche transceiver check).
