Arrival by car
"Scenic and individual" on beautiful roads on vacation
Traveling by car to your vacation in the Hohe Tauern National Park is probably the most scenic option, through magnificent landscapes and breathtaking nature.
Coming from the north, you have several options: The A10 Tauernautobahn takes you quickly and directly to the south, although this is also very popular and very busy in the high season. The journey is more individual if you travel through the Gastein Valley and join the car train in Böckstein, which will take you safely and quickly via the car lock to Mallnitz train station (Closure November 2024 - July 2025).
Breathtaking views also await you on the journey via the Felbertauernstraße. Coming from the west, it is best to travel via South and East Tyrol through the Pustertal valley. From the east, you can reach the Hohe Tauern National Park via the A2 Südautobahn and the Villach junction. Coming from the south, it is probably the SS52 over the Plöckenpass (closed!) or the A32 via Tarvis and Arnoldstein that will bring you to us.
