The Austrian Ecolabel
ARGE Naturerlebnis Kärnten and the Center for Sustainable Destination Development (NDK) have joined forces to shape the future of tourism in Carinthia in a sustainable way. This initiative focuses on close cooperation with tourism regions, protected areas, the province of Carinthia and Kärnten Werbung. Together, the partners aim to anchor the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Carinthian tourism step by step and thus create a strong foundation for responsible development.
The overarching goal is to preserve Carinthia as a living space with innovative concepts, creative ideas and practical measures, while at the same time making it fit for the future. This creates added value for everyone: locals enjoy an environment worth living in that strengthens their identity, while guests find authentic and sustainable vacation experiences. This interaction harmonizes ecological, social and economic interests - the basis for ensuring that Carinthia remains a place worth living and experiencing in the future.
Our region sets an example for sustainability
By aiming for certification with the Austrian Ecolabel for Destinations, we not only want to increase our regional added value, but also specifically intensify cooperation between tourism, municipalities and partners. At the same time, we are making an active contribution to ensuring a future worth living for generations to come. The eco-label stands for precisely these values: responsible use of resources, quality at a high level and sustainable development in our region.
The focus is on the development of concrete measures that:
promote the careful use of resources,
strengthen the regional economy,
Secure nature and cultural experiences in the long term and
guarantee our guests lasting quality and special experiences.
This project is supported as a LEADER project by EU and federal funds. Thanks to this funding, we are able to take comprehensive steps towards implementation - a decisive contribution to greater cooperation and sustainable development in our region.
The Austrian Ecolabel for companies
The Austrian Ecolabel has been a recognized seal of quality for sustainability in tourism for many years. It shows that businesses take responsibility - for the environment, guests and the region. Resource-conserving management not only achieves ecological goals, but also strengthens competitiveness.
